SLO Death Index
Beginning in 2014, the SSA is going to delay by three years, the producing of the SSDI. In order to assist Researchers with Death Information for San Luis Obispo County, The San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society will create a Death Index from records available at the SLO County Clerk-Recorder's Office.

The San Luis Obispo County 'Early Death' Index is composed of two types of Records: County Recorder Database & Local Newspapers
SLO Death Information was compiled by accessing records at the SLO County Clerk's Office.
The following Volunteers worked on this Project:
Nancy Casey, Claudia Collier, Dianna Curtis, Martha Graham & Sharon Whitney.

The Deaths gleaned from local newspapers are indicated in the far left column by this format: s/11a where 11a is a page number. Please note that these entries are for your information only, these people did not die in San Luis Obispo County, but probably had some connection to the County. SLOCGS has no further information on the Newspaper gleanings.
The Newspaper gleanings can be found here.
The Records on the Index that are from the Clerk's Office are available for a donation to SLOCGS: Contact the SLOCGS Librarian
California mandated the recording of deaths in 1905, but many Counties began much earlier.
